Why we fail to see and discover our own potential...
Every so often we should stop and re-imagine the privilege we have to become, to do, and to have anything we choose in a world of endless possibilities.
Now most people would not agree with me, but of course, we each have our own reasons why we fail to see and discover our own potential, and even more, overcome our past to reach for a brighter future.
Today I want to challenge you to dream with me, partner with me, on a journey that empowers you to start living your best life today. So, Andrew E. Guy, where do I start? You ask.
The cliché that “TOGETHER WE CAN GO FAR...ALONE YOU MAY GO FAST,” is easier said than done. One might say, motivation is as important as inspiration, but there’s no telling how long “you” will last if you go alone on your quest for excellence. In fact, it is human nature to pursue a higher standard of living, better quality of life, and a more enjoyable lifestyle that inspires us to set bigger goals and make the necessary sacrifices to achieve them.

You will discover new strategies and insightful approaches to fix your top work-life struggles, so you can finally experience the life you deserve. Whether you're a demotivated professional, a high-performing individual, doctor, lawyer, entrepreneur, or a department head, you might be grappling with issues that seem insurmountable and impossible to conquer. Rest assured, you are not alone!
While we are designed for development, engineered for growth, and are driven to succeed beyond our wildest imaginations, it is the act of building your character on honour, securing the future with commitment, fulfilling your obligations in loyalty, establishing your worth through labour, and the maximization of our resources in community that improves our chances for continuous self-expansion.
One might ask; what is excellence anyway, and why do so many gravitate towards it, but so few seldom attain it? The Oxford dictionary defines excellence as "The quality of being extremely good.” But what does that mean in the grand scheme of things?
Many would argue that “They are a good person,” but how does the idea of being a good person equate to excellence? It turns out that the answer is found in the origin of the word itself: late Middle English: from Latin excellentia, from the verb excellere ‘to surpass’, from ex-‘out, to go beyond’ + celsus ‘to ascend to a state of loftiness.’
In its simplest term, excellence is the highest expression by which humanity celebrates all things that derive through resiliency, struggle, setback, pressure, trial and error, failure and defeat to advancement and overcoming the obstacles that make us exceptional.
Excellence must be celebrated; it must be acknowledged, and it must be used as a token of inspiration to all who need hope. Here’s a question for you: Are you being excellent at each opportunity you are given? How do you know when you are being excellent at what you do? What measure do you hold yourself to in order to maximize your resources to ensure each action that you take is one of excellence?
To ensure you are on the right track to becoming your most ‘excellent-self'' each day, start by evaluating the people you associate with, your thought patterns, your outlook on life, your worldviews and how you see yourself and others.
Next, let go of any ideology that promotes “self-ism,” lone-sharkedness, or the idea of “I’m good all by myself.” Despite all natural talents, resources and unique opportunities, your chance of excellence is slim-to-none without the help of others.
Becoming excellent requires strategic partnerships with others. Through joint partnerships in mentorship, structured academics, sports and well-being we are impacting lives and changing the trajectory of today’s youth.
Through sports, work and leisure, we get to experience the power of partnership firsthand. We attend our favourite athletic games, we cheer for them, and hold them to the highest regard despite their setbacks or tarnished lifestyles. As a former teacher and educator in the classroom, we team up for the excellence of our students by partnering with parents everyday. It is one of the past experiences I cherish ever so deeply.
As a speaker, author and professional development coach, I partner with my clients to help them gain the clarity they need, to grasp a greater meaning from their work and to create the right professional boundaries to protect what is most important to them. The transformational process is an outcome of excellent men and women who’ve rediscovered their God-gifts, embraced their shortcomings and have taken a leap of faith forward to chart a new course for life.
Maybe there’s more to living than the life you are now experiencing. Ever thought about that, and if there’s a way to change it. If there was a way, would you embrace it or even give it a try?
I look forward to connecting with you to build partnerships of excellence with clarity and meaning for high performance achievers who dare to build a radically resilient work-life.
Remember, you were not meant to do life alone…that’s a myth and a choice only you can change for the better. The sooner you take action to partner in excellence, the quicker you'll experience positive transformation in your work-life experience.
