What is spiritual courage? What does it look like and how would a person develop it?
Developing spiritual courage means to become aware of your internal capacity. Similar to a car…it is not the external body that determines if the car is a racer, but what’s under the hood, the engine and the amount of power it possesses. The greater the horsepower, the more capable the engine to handle any load that is placed on it.
The inside matters more that the visible external
Now imagine the engine in the same way that your body is build….your body is the external part that people see. Your engine which is not seen, but is observed by the performance of the car is the spiritual components that works on the inside of you.
Just like the car, the more aware you are of the power that works in the better your performance.
The power that works in all humanity is God. It is he who works in us to will and to do for his good pleasure.
What does courage looks like?
Courage is a willingness to get into the car knowing that it will perform for you every time without fail. You will develop the faith that without looking at your feet, the car will response to its fullest capacity each time you press the pedal.
Again, courage is total reliance on the power that works in us. The race car driver is only as good as the capability of the car, the output of the engine, and the skill of the driver to give the car permission to demonstrate its power so long as the driver is able to control it.
God works in us the same way. The more courage we have to step out and allow him to have his perfect way, the more we rely on him and the better we perform. Over time, we become so align with his power that we become unstoppable. With his power working through us, we can do all things; yes, we will be able to do greater works that even Jesus did when he was on earth. Imagine that!
